Words With Deanes

Senior running back and good friend Lionel Deanes gave us an opportunity to get to know him better.

Q: Besides football, what are some things you do? Clubs, job, hobbies, other sports?

A: I currently play basketball for the school. I am a member of the National Honor Society and Environmental club. I am also employed at Jersey Mikes which has the best subs in the world.

Q: How long have you been playing football for and what was the first team you played for?

A: I’ve been playing football for 6 years and the first team i played for was the southside sabers

Q: Growing up were there any sports that you played as a child but don’t play now?

A: I stopped playing football for a short period of time and played soccer. I was a midfielder and our team actually won our league that year.

Q: If you could pick a favorite year of football what year would it be, and why?

A;Senior year of course because I was able to play with a lot of my friends and we had great chemistry with one another even the freshman.

Q: What is the main difference between this season and last season that gave you the most success?

A:The main difference was our team chemistry and our togetherness as a whole.

Q: What is your favorite thing about the football team this year?

A: I loved the friendships and bonds with the coaches. Everyone got along and practice was very fun because we all wanted to make each other better while enjoying our time together.

Q: What stadium do you feel is the best home field for the Rebels, and why?

A: I enjoyed playing at Thomas Jefferson because we never lost a game there.

Q: Being the talented player you are, you probably have a lot of younger people that look up to you. What is your advice to them?

A:My advice for them is to be humble, never disrespect yourself or your opponent ,and  appreciate every opportunity and moment because soon these moments will be memories that you will surely miss.

Q: What are your plans after high school, will you be playing football and what will be your major?

A: I plan to major in either pre-med, chemistry, or biology.

Q: What is your dream career?

A: I would love to become a pharmacist because it is a job that suits my personality really well.
