Treat Yourself This Valentine’s Day

By: Lindsay Laverty –

If you see yourself as a hopeless romantic in the generation of “Netflix and Chill,” you’ll be pleased to find you’re not alone. Valentine’s Day can be difficult if you’re spending it by your lonesome, but it’s also a great opportunity to treat yourself! This V-Day, it’s time to make yourself a priority.

Take yourself on a date

This may sound a little bizarre, but there’s nothing more calming than spending time with yourself- even if it’s just treating yourself to dinner. This is a good reminder that you matter and deserve to be spoiled. Go see a movie, take a leisurely drive while listening to music, or spend the night at the Cheesecake Factory. (A slice of the Reese’s Cheesecake is recommended.)

Spend the night in

Grab a Redbox movie, wrap yourself in a fuzzy blanket, pop some popcorn, and settle in for the night. Spend some quality time just relaxing. You are going-going-going 24/7 most days, it’s time to put your feet up.

Skin-care shows you-care

Feeling gross at all lately? Don’t we all? You’d be surprised how refreshing a face mask is. There are different kinds of masks for different kinds of skin types! If you have oily skin, or if you break out quite often, Muddy Body Detox Face Masks are probably the best idea! If you have dry skin, Lush puts out great masks for you! If you’re looking for cheaper masks, Tony Moly has an 11-pack for just ten bucks!

Retail Therapy

Take a trip to your closest outlet mall. Either pamper yourself with a lavish purchase, or find those impressive sales in your favorite stores! Maybe hit up a local bookstore, or stop at an ice cream shop.

Netflix Binge Time

Start a new show! Devote to finishing it eventually, taking it at your own pace. Whether it’s The Office or Grey’s Anatomy, allow yourself to be caught up in a fantasy world- escaping your own for the day.

Fish are friends, not food.

Take a trip to the aquarium, museum, or the aviary. If it’s warm enough, the zoo is always a good idea! Spending the day with animals is occasionally easier than spending the day with people. Take pictures, look around, spend some time learning about the exhibits.

Speaking of Friends…

Get the gang together for an adventure. Whether it’s a GNO, a night with the boys, or intermingled company, enjoy how much fun your acquaintances are. You don’t need the people you’re with on Valentine’s Day to be your significant other. Appreciate the people you’re surrounded with.

This Valentine’s Day doesn’t have to be lonely. If no one is spoiling you- why not let it be yourself?
