The freshmen of Seton LaSalle participated in a Tournament of Champions which was planned by the Freshman Academy teachers on April 25 in the gymnasium.
For those of you who don’t know what Freshman Academy is, it is a time when the freshman meet up in their homerooms to discuss their transition into high school. Sometimes, a speaker will come in and talk about achieving goals in life. Its purpose is to help students adjust to their new environment, and teachers get feedback to help the next year of freshmen.
This Freshman Academy, the homeroom teachers of the freshmen decided to plan a day of fun for their students. After first period, the freshmen went to the gymnasium for the Tournaments of Champions. Mr. Carter was the sports announcer and referee for Tug-A-War. It was homeroom against homeroom, and Brinzer’s Brigade won against Decker’s Destroyers. Meghan Dryburgh, a member of Decker’s Destroyers said, “It was interesting. It was fun to go against Brinzer’s Brigade in the Tug-A-War Championship.”
After Tug-A-War, Mr. Joyce was the referee for the Volleyball Tournament. Griswold’s Giants defeated Brinzer’s Brigade in the concluding game of finals. Emily McElhany said, “It was alright. It was fun to watch.”
It was great time to watch freshmen engage in fun activities, and the teachers cheered for their homeroom students. The freshmen would like to thank their homeroom teachers and everyone who made this possible.
