There have been many mixed reviews about the new movie The Vow that came out last Friday. We have all seen the heart wrenching movies of forgotten love such as Dear John and The Notebook written by Nicholas Sparks. Although, many people have thought that The Vow was written by Nicholas Sparks, it is actually inspired by a true life story and book by Kim and Krickitt Carpenter. The couple was interviewed about what they thought about the movie by Fox411.com. They said “The movie doesn’t talk about faith significantly. It would have been nice to see more of it, the first book we wrote was extremely embedded in our faith, but I think the movie does depict the inspiration of the battle to hang in there. I think the audience realizes we are a people of faith.” So, if the movie is leaving out the spiritual view of the story, what else are they leaving out? There are a few things that movie has done to change up the story. In the movie, Leo, who is played by Channing Tatum and Paige, who is played by Rachel McAdams, get a divorce after the accident that causes Paige to forget everything about her marriage with Leo. Leo proceeds to win back Paige’s heart and shows her that he still loves and is committed to her. In the real life story, the couple always vowed that they would never do that. The real couple of Kim and Krickitt trusted in their faith in Jesus and stayed true to their wedding vows, hence the title of the novel and film. Overall, most moviegoers thoroughly enjoyed the movie, and most couples were truly inspired by Kim and Krickitt’s real life story.
