After a tough loss to the Cougars of Carlynton High School (7-5) the pressure was on the Rebels to win one out of their next two games to make the play-offs and knock Carlynton out. The Rebels traveled to CIT field in Crafton to play Bishop Canevin; a team the Rebels lost to previously in the year, 12-6. The Rebels needed the win and they prevailed 4-3. This morale boosting win was due to six strong innings by Alex “The Fuzz” Borafski, a save by Jay Moog, and hitting by John Boyle, Ty Trainor, and Jake Novicki; with two hits a piece. The Rebels clinched the play-offs, but still had a section foe to beat. The North Catholic Trojans were already out of play-off contention. Even though the game didn’t mean much to the records of either team, both teams love beating each other and wanted to win this game. The Rebels smashed North Catholic 17-2 in four innings. Ethan Weiss got the win and Kevin Hart had a homerun and two triples in the win. The Rebels will be heading into the play-offs with a 13-4 record and looking strong. The seeding’s come out this Friday where the Rebels hope to make the dream a reality by winning a WPIAL Championship. The Rebels are led by Seniors Ty Trainor, Jake Novicki, Lee Moog, John Boyle, Cory Deighan, and Ethan Weiss. The Senior Rebels would like to end their final baseball season with a gold, or two.
