#NeverTrump

The presidential election is just around a month away. On November 8th, millions of Americans will be heading out to cast their vote for who will become the next president of the United States of America. Many Americans are facing a bit of a dilemma this year. With two extremely controversial figures as the nominees, many are unsure of how they will vote because they aren’t really fans of either. Here is why Hillary Clinton is the better choice.

First and foremost, Clinton has the experience needed to effectively run this country. She was the first lady of the state of Arkansas and the first lady of the United States when her husband, Bill Clinton, was in office. This gives her a lot more insight of how things work in our government than Donald Trump has. She has seen a lot of the “behind the scenes” things being the first lady. She also served as a senator in the state of New York. This gave her experience as being a politician herself rather than just being the first lady. Next, she served as Secretary of State under President Obama from 2009 – 2013. This gave her even more experience in government and politics, and on a higher level. It gave her experience especially in foreign policy.

Here is the second and by far most important reason Clinton is the better choice: she isn’t Trump. Hillary may not be your first choice for president, but she is the lesser of two evils. Trump is beyond under-qualified and unfit to be president. He has absolutely no political experience. He is loud and controversial. He has zero filter. He says what is on his mind at all times, no matter how inappropriate. You just need to watch about five minutes of one of the debates to see this. Is that really the type of person we want to be representing us on the world stage? Someone with the temperament of Trump is not fit to be on of the most powerful people in the world.

Trump is also bad news for the United States because he has repeatedly pit Americans against each other. There were a multitude of occasions at Trump rallies throughout the primaries, in which he encouraged his supporters to resort to violence. He encouraged violence against those who opposed him multiple times, even promising to pay legal fees if those who resorted to violence were prosecuted. How can we have a president who wants to turn us against each other?
As much as the “vote for Hillary if you’re a feminist” argument is both overused and honestly a little stupid, there is no denying that Trump is disrespectful towards women. He has a history of being disrespectful towards women that work for him. He has also publicly shown a sexist side of himself multiple times. After all, who can forget about his remarks towards Fox News anchor, Megyn Kelly? And then proceeding to call her a “bimbo” on Twitter. Besides this, Trump’s most recent controversy brings to light, even more evidence that he is sexist towards women. In the video that was released, Trump repeatedly objectifies women, in the midst of  what he calls “locker room banter.” He also speaks of how he can do whatever he wants with women because he is a celebrity. I’m not saying we should vote for Hillary because she’s a woman, (after all, if I said that, it would be, in essence, sexist) I’m saying we should vote for her because she respects women.

It seems obvious that Secretary Clinton is the better choice in this election that seems to have no correct choice. However, it seems that Clinton is a candidate who is more temperamentally suited for the job of President of the United States. If it is a question of character, the clear-cut winner would be Hillary Clinton.
