Laps for lives was held at Duquesne University on Saturday, January 8, 2011. The Rebel Swimming Team swims to raise funds to support different organizations, such as Victims of Domestic Violence, the American Cancer Society, and the Breast Cancer Foundation. We do this to help protect and save lives. The swim team collects pledges to donate to these organizations. We swim 200 laps – which is 5000 yards, or 3.03 miles. It’s a great cause and we all have fun no matter how hard the swimming. We involve other people that are not on the swim team by having them count the laps for us. We eat and have a good time while thinking about how God gave us a good life and we work for those who are not as fortunate as we are.
