Experienced Rebels Have High Hopes

By: Michael DelSardo

The past three seasons the Rebel baseball team has made the post season and fallen short of their ultimate goal. This year, they have different plans; they have a veteran team and good pitching. Long time skipper, Chuck Rutter, is back with the Varsity Rebel baseball team after taking sometime off. The Rebels return seven starters which includes five seniors. “We have a lot of experience, which will help us tremendously in the long run,” third baseman, Zack Dominick said. The Rebels have great hitting which includes their leading homerun hitter from a year ago, Mike DelSardo. One of their strengths is the speed they have in the outfield, which will be run by Junior, Kevin Hart in center and Senior, Cody Kasel in left. Both are good hitters too. They will rely on Alex “Peach Fuzz” Borofski to be the ace of the pitching staff, he has a 2-0 career varsity record, he will be helped by Junior, Jay Moog, and Junior, Ben Miller. The infield of the Rebels might be the most experienced in the entire WPIAL, with 3 year starter Michael DelSardo at shortstop, along with 3 year starter David Faust at second base, and 2 year starter Zack Dominick at 3rd. The Rebels will certainly look to make a run at the championship and Chuck Rutter believes that this is the team that can win him another WPIAL Title.

  1. Way to go DelSardo. The article states there are 5 seniors and only 4 were mentioned. You failed to mention 3 year starter Spencer Ross at catcher.
