The Seton – La Salle boys lacrosse team did something that has not been done before: the team won its Section title. The program has had its fair share of ups and downs in its 4 year span, but this is by far the most memorable season.
Senior, Robert Lomire had this to say about winning the Section title: “Winning Section was a giant step forward for the program. It means a lot to the program to become a serious competitor in the WPIAL.”
The boys are undefeated this year boasting a 10-0 record. The team has beat programs of all sizes. Their landmark victory came on April 8th, in a 9-5 rout of Central Catholic. What made this victory significant is that it was the team’s first win over a Division I program.
Lomire had more to say about the teams success: “Our hard work has taken us from being the hunters to being the hunted.”
Although the boys have had a dominant regular season so far, the team would tell you that their year is far from over. Now that the boys have the Section title wrapped up they have their eyes set on a larger goal: a WPIAL title. The boys are optimistic and eager to get the post season underway.
Junior, Liam McLane had this to say about the boys’ journey into the postseason: “Expect the boys lacrosse team to continue to play with the intensity and teamwork from the regular season throughout the playoffs.”
Needless to say the boys are looking forward to the playoffs. This team is hungry for a WPIAL title. First year head coach, Brian Yates, must be pleased with his teams performance thus far.
Sidenotes: The Rebels look to defend their undefeated record against Bethel Park this Monday. The Rebels are currently ranked 6th in the WPIAL. The Rebels are the only team remaining in the WPIAL with an undefeated record.
