Boy’s Lacrosse Readies for New Season

By: Patrick Kenny

Under new leadership with first year head coach Brian Gates the Seton-La Salle boy’s Lacrosse team will be starting its 2013 campaign shortly.  Open gyms are under way and the players are starting to form friendships.

This year’s team some key returning players to the roster and big things are expected.  Some returnees are senior Robert Lomire, senior Matt McGervey, junior Colin Bashaw, and  sophomore Conor Quinlan.  Senior Brendan Donovan believes the team is prepared for success. When asked why he was so confident, he responded “We will be pretty good.  We have a solid defense.”.

Brian Gates will need to get accustomed to his team at Seton-La Salle by the time they kick off their season opener versus Greater Latrobe Senior High School.  Coach Gates played lacrosse collegiately for the University of Maryland where he was a three year starter and brings with him excellent lacrosse experiences.  These experiences should be invaluable to the team as they look to have continued success in the 2012-2012 season and beyond.

Needless to say, there is much optimism amongst the players and they are excited for the season to start.
