The Seton LaSalle boys basketball team won the section championship this year for the first time since 2015.
“Winning the section definitely means a lot to me and the whole team,” says senior Matt Banbury. “It feels great to say I helped put something up on that banner in the gym.”
After their final away win against Brentwood on Thursday, the team has also successfully gone undefeated in their section. They won all 10 of their games, defeating Brentwood, Avonworth, Carlynton, North Catholic, and Freedom each twice.
However, the Rebel basketball program isn’t done yet.
Senior starter Jakob Richardson explains the Rebels postseason goals very clearly: “Win WPIALs, qualify for States, and win States.”
The Rebels start 5 seniors this year, who are motivated by the fact that this is their last year of high school basketball.
“This is my last year of high school so we have to win it all, whatever it takes,” says senior George Mike IV.
The Rebels have just one regular season game to play before they enter the playoffs. They play on Monday February 12th against Steel Valley at home. JV is at 6 and varsity is at 7:30.
“Hopefully we are just getting started. We need to win these next two games and roll into the playoffs ready for the competition,” says senior starter Kaleb Krebs.
